Gujarati Cuisine: Snack, Farasan, Indian Breads
Gujaratis make many snacks during the festivals of Diwali and Suvali is one of them. It's crispy and tasty deep-fried traditional Gujarati-Indian flat-bread similar to crackers.
Cooking Time: 25 Minutes
Pre-Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Level Of Cooking: Easy
Serving: 8 to 12 Pieces
All Purpose Flour: 250gm | |
Sugar: 130-140 Gm | |
Sesame Seeds: 1 Tablespoon | |
Ghee(to Fry): 150gm | |
Ghee(to Add In Flour): 4 Tablespoon | |
Milk/water: 100ml Cardamom Powder (optional): 1 Teaspoon |
Step 1: Heat sugar in 100ml water for sometime.
Step 2: Sift all purpose flour in a vessel.
Step 3: Add ghee to the flour and mix well. Add sesame seeds and cardamom powder to it. Mix well.
Step 4: Add sugar water to the flour mixture and create a dough.
Step 5: Let the dough rest for 20-30 minutes. Add little ghee to it and mend it with the dough for a smoother and softer texture.
Step 6: Make small balls from the dough and roll small thin puris out of it.
Step 7: After rolling all the puris, heat ghee in a vessel. When the ghee is heated, tur...n the flame on low heat and fry puris till it attains pink or white crunchy texture.
Note: 1. Spread Puris separately in a vessel when rolling. It will help them in attaining crunchy texture. 2. While preparing dough if there is a shortage of sugar water than you can add normal water to it.
