Makai Khichado is very tasty and healthy winter special recipe. Populer cuisine for sankranti / uttarayan festival in Gujarat and many part of India.

Makai Khichado

Cooking Time: 30 Minutes

Pre-Preparation Time: Not Needed

Level Of Cooking: Easy

Serving: For 4 to 5 persons

Ingredients:

American Corn(peeled): 1 Kg
Oil: 2 - 3 Tablespoon
Mustard Seeds: 1/2 Tablespoon
Asafoetida: 1/2 Tablespoon
Cinnamon: Small Piece
Clove: 2 - 3
Salt: As Per Taste
Lemon: 1
Crushed Green Chilly: 2 - 3
Ginger: 1 Small Piece
Coriander Leaves (chopped): 1 Tablespoon
Garam Masala: 1/2 Tablespoon
Curry Leaves: 4 - 5
Sugar: 1 To 1 1/2 Tablespoon

How To Cook:

Step 1: Coarsely crush corn seeds.

Step 2: Heat oil on low flame in a pan. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, cinnamon, cloves and curry leaves to it. When the seeds pop add crushed corn seeds to it and stir the mixture well.

Step 3: Add salt, grated ginger, green chilly pieces (or 1 tablespoon paste of ginger + chilly), garam masala powder and sugar to it. Mix well.

Step 4: Let the mixture cook on medium heat for some-time. Stir intermittently.

Step 5:
When its cooked add lemon juice to it. Turn off the heat and let it rest for five minutes.

Step 6: Serve hot.
