How To Cook:
Wheat Sweet Khichado - nutritious, heavenly and delicious Gujarati sweet dish prepared from cracked wheat, milk and lots of dry fruits, In Gujarat. Mostly during festival of Uttarayan / Makar Sankranti (a kite festival)
Step 1: Soak pounded wheat in 1 litre warm water for 7 - 8 hours.
Step 2: Soak split pigeon bean in 400ml water for 7 - 8 hours.
Step 3: Drain the water from pounded wheat and split pigeon bean after soaking them.
Step 4: Heat 2 tablespoon ghee in cooker and add pieces of cinnamon and cloves to it. Then add drained pounded wheat, split pigeon beans and groundnut to it. Ad
...d 100 - 150ml water or milk and boil the mixture by closing the lid of cooker. (let the pressure come for 3 to 4 times).
Step 5: Once boiled let the mixture rest for some-time. Then add sugar, raisin, almonds, pieces of cashew, nutmeg, cardamom and saffron (soaked in milk). Stir the mixture well till sugar dissolves.
Step 6: Serve hot.
Note: Don't add sugar while boiling.
