Wheat Sweet Khichado is very tasty and healthy winter special sweet. Populer sweet for sankranti / uttarayan festival in Gujarat and many part of India.

Wheat Sweet Khichado

Cooking Time: 30 Minutes

Pre-Preparation Time: 8 Hours

Level Of Cooking: Medium

Serving: For 5 to 6 persons

Ingredients:

Pounded Wheat: 400gm
Split Pigeon Peas: 100gm
Dry Dates(small Pieces): 50gm
Groundnut: 30gm
Coconut (small Pieces): 30gm
Cashew Nuts (small Pieces):10 - 25
Raisins: 10 - 20
Cloves: 2 - 3
Cinnamon: 2
Sugar: 250gm - 300gm
Ghee: 2 Tablespoon
Almond (small Pieces): 10 - 15
Nutmeg Powder: 1/2 Piece
Cardamom Powder: 1 Tablespoon
Saffron: 7 - 8 Strings

How To Cook:

Wheat Sweet Khichado - nutritious, heavenly and delicious Gujarati sweet dish prepared from cracked wheat, milk and lots of dry fruits, In Gujarat. Mostly during festival of Uttarayan / Makar Sankranti (a kite festival)

Step 1:
Soak pounded wheat in 1 litre warm water for 7 - 8 hours.

Step 2: Soak split pigeon bean in 400ml water for 7 - 8 hours.

Step 3: Drain the water from pounded wheat and split pigeon bean after soaking them.

Step 4: Heat 2 tablespoon ghee in cooker and add pieces of cinnamon and cloves to it. Then add drained pounded wheat, split pigeon beans and groundnut to it. Ad...d 100 - 150ml water or milk and boil the mixture by closing the lid of cooker. (let the pressure come for 3 to 4 times).

Step 5: Once boiled let the mixture rest for some-time. Then add sugar, raisin, almonds, pieces of cashew, nutmeg, cardamom and saffron (soaked in milk). Stir the mixture well till sugar dissolves.

Step 6: Serve hot.

Note: Don't add sugar while boiling.
