Maharashtrian Cuisine: Main Course, Sabji

Pithla is authentic maharashtrian spicy and tasty besan curry. easy to cook but still very mouthwatering simple dish which gets ready with minimum preparations.

Maharashtrian Pithla

Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

Pre-Preparation Time: Not Needed

Level Of Cooking: Easy

Serving: For 4 to 5 persons

Ingredients:

Besan (Gram Flour)125-150gm
Oil - 1 Teaspoon
Onion - 1 (medium Size)
Curry Leaves - 2-3
Cumin Powder- 3 Teaspoon
Mustard Seed - 1 Teaspoon
Common Salt - 2-3 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder - 2 Teaspoon
Green Chilly - 3 Pieces Or Red Chilly Powder- 1 Teaspoon

How To Cook:

Step 1: Saute finely chopped onion into a pan without adding oil.

Step 2: When the onion pieces turn light brown add a teaspoon of oil to it. Also add curry leaves, mustard seeds and cumin powder to it.

Step 3: In a separate utensil mix besan with water. Stir well and form a paste.

Step 4: Add this thin paste to the pan. Now add turmeric powder, chilly and salt to it. Mix well.

Step 5: Cook the mixture with continuous stirring for atleast 5-10 minutes on medium heat. The mixture will have a homogeneous thick texture.

Step 6: Remove the mixture and serve hot with J...uvar Bhakhri or Wheat Bhakhri.
