Farali, Fusion, South Indian Cuisine: Main Course

Sambar is served with steamed rice, idli, dosa or medu vadai or uttapam and here we are sharing Farali version of the same for your fasting time like Navratri, Ekadasi, Mahashivratri, Janmashtami or other upvas/ vrat days.

Farali Sambar

Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

Pre-Preparation Time: Not Needed

Level Of Cooking: Medium

Serving: For 4 to 5 persons

Ingredients:

Yam: 100 Gm
Purple Yam: 100gm
Potato: 100gm
Groundnut Powder: 50 Gm
Cumin Seeds: 1 Tablespoon
Lemon Juice: 1-2 Tablespoon
Cinnamon Powder: 1/4 Teaspoon
Clove Powder: 1/4 Teaspoon
Curry Leaves: 8-10
Grated Coconut: 2 Tablespoon
Ginger-chilly Paste: 2 Tablespoon
Red-chilly Powder: 1 Tablespoon
Finely Chopped Coriander: 1 Tablespoon
Cumin-coriander Powder: 1 Tablespoon
Oil: 2 Tablespoon (to Tamper)
Salt: As Per Taste

How To Cook:

Step 1: Peel Yam, Purple yam and potato. Wash them in boiling water.

Step 2: Boil Yam, Purple yam, potato and groundnut powder in cooker with 600-700ml water.

Step 3:
After boiling crush the ingredients in a mixture-grinder.

Step 4:
Add Ginger-chilly paste, Red-chilly powder, Curry leaves, Grated coconut, lemon-juice, cumin-coriander powder and salt to the paste. Mix well.

Step 5:
Heat oil in a vessel and tamper cumin seeds, Cinnamon powder and clove powder on low flame. When tampered add it to the prepared sambhar mixture.

Step 6:
Heat the sambhar mixture on a low ...flame for 10-15 minutes. After that remove it from heat and serve hot.
